Russian drones attacked Parliament, 50 meters from Volodimir Zelensky’s office

Due to the attack, an evacuation and suspension of activities was carried out. The president denounced that 111 drones tried to attack the country, but most of them were shot down.

Russian drones attacked this Wednesday Parliament of Ukraine in the capital kyiv, just 50 meters from the president’s office Volodymyr Zelensky. Two civilians were killed and seven injured. There was evacuation and suspension of activities.

The attack was confirmed by the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk. Specifically, administrative buildings where committees and units of the Verkhovna Rada, the official name of the Legislative Branch of that country, operate, were damaged. The main building is 300 meters away and did not receive any hits.

President Zelensky condemned the attack. According to him, a total of 111 Russian Army drones participated, most of them intercepted by defense systems.

In particular, windows and walls were destroyed, some reduced to fragments. A couple of scientists died in the attack. Meanwhile, there were seven people injured, including two pregnant women.

Emergency personnel from Parliament quickly acted to “quickly eliminate the consequences of the attack and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the Verkhovna Rada and its bodies.”

Ukraine cut off supplies of Russian natural gas to Europe through its territory

Ukraine stopped this Wednesday, January 1, the transportation of natural gas Russian through its territory as it had warned in recent days. The agreement signed between Moscow and kyiv provided for the physical interconnection between the Natural Gas Transmission System of Ukraine (GTSOU) and Gazprom and, after its completion, the concern in different countries in Europe facing winter.

“Transportation of natural gas from the Sudzha entry point on the eastern border of Ukraine to the exit points on the western and southern borders was terminated. The Ukrainian GTS Operator informed its international partners in accordance with the established procedure“, details the statement from the Ukrainian operator.

The flow stopped definitively this January 1st. Finally, the 5 year agreement between both nations – which continued despite the war – came to an end and Ukraine confirmed the measure: “We stopped the transit of Russian gas. It is a historic event. Russia thus loses market shares and will suffer financial losses,” congratulated the Ukrainian Energy Minister, Guerman Galuchtchenko, cited for his services in a statement.
