Since their election defeat on September 29th, the blacks have been in a continuing decline. In recent surveys, the party was only just above the 20 percent threshold. If new elections were to take place, the FPÖ in particular would make massive gains. In the APA election trend, which takes into account the surveys from the last five weeks, the Blues were most recently at 35.5 percent.
In the National Council election, which took place almost 100 days ago, the Freedom Party was the first-time election winner, led by top candidate Herbert Kickl, with 28.8 percent, comparatively just ahead of the ÖVP with 26.3 percent. Since then, the gap between blue and turquoise has widened further with every week and Sunday question.
SPÖ below 20 percent
The SPÖ has also recently lost slightly in the polls. In the National Council election, the Social Democrats with top candidate Andreas Babler only ended up in third place for the first time in the history of the Second Republic with 21.1 percent. From this historic low, the comrades recently slipped to just under 20 percent – a historic low for the party.
Greens are stabilizing
The Greens, on the other hand, were able to stabilize at around the level of their September election results – they ended up at around eight percent. The Neos – of course without taking yesterday’s events into account – have even been able to gain slightly in the past few weeks and months. The pinks now have 9.1 to 10.4 percent.
