Lightning ice, slush and slippery conditions led to accidents in Upper Austria

In St. Ägidi a car left the road and three occupants were injured, some seriously.
The fire departments of St. Aegidi, Kopfing and Hackendorf were alerted under the alarm keyword “rescue people in a car traffic accident”.
At Pucking, a car had to be rescued that had left the road.

As announced by experts from Geosphere Austria (formerly ZAMG), a warm front brought precipitation, which changed from snow to partly freezing rain over the course of the morning and led to difficult driving conditions in large parts of Upper Austria.

Three injured in the Innviertel

For example, a traffic accident in the Innviertel left three people injured. A 27-year-old who was traveling with his parents and brother in a car from St. Roman towards St. Ägidi lost control of his car on the Sauwaldbundesstraße around 2:30 p.m. At the level of the town of Paulsdorf he came off the road in slush and slippery conditions. The VW hit a traffic sign and crashed over an embankment before being stopped by a tree.
