Residents had to be evacuated.

The devastating forest fires in the area around the US metropolis of Los Angeles have spread rapidly to an area totaling almost 16 square kilometers. Strong winds with speeds of up to 60 miles per hour are fanning the fire and making it difficult to fight the fire from the air. At least 30,000 people, including several celebrities, are affected by evacuations.

Several people, including a firefighter, suffered burn injuries, reports the US broadcaster ABC. The largest fire in the area around the Pacific Palisades district now covers an area of almost twelve square kilometers, as the Californian authorities report. On Tuesday evening (local time), a second fire broke out in the area around the nearby city of Pasadena, which spread to an area of around four square kilometers within a few hours.
