Sixteen people, of whom seven are in critical condition, were hospitalized after being found unconscious near the pool of the Hampton Inn hotel in Marysville, Ohio, on Saturday evening, January 29, writes the Daily Mail.
According to Marysville Police Chief Tony Brooks, calls began coming in around 5:30 p.m. that people had been found unconscious at the Hampton Inn.
Later it became known that the first call was due to the fact that a two-year-old girl passed out by the hotel pool. Over time, the calls became more and more, people complained of “burning in the throat and dizziness.” The hotel was evacuated, specifies the American bureau The Sun.
Local police are investigating the incident to determine if it was caused by a chemical in the pool or a carbon monoxide leak.
In Russia, on January 20, two adults and a child were poisoned by carbon monoxide in Saratov. They were hospitalized in a state of moderate severity. The incident occurred in the apartment of a five-story building. A 33-year-old man, a 27-year-old woman and their two-year-old son were injured.
