Javier Milei’s government authorized a new airline to operate in the country

The government of Javier Milei continues with its air deregulation program and authorized the airline Sky Airlines Peru to operate in the country. It was authorized to operate air routes to different locations in Brazil, Chile, Peru and Uruguay.

In detail, the company was previously authorized to operate regular international air transport services for passengers, cargo and mail only on the route Lima – Buenos Aires – Santiago de Chile. Now, the Libertarian administration granted it rights to expand its offer to new destinations in the region.

Sky Airlines expands its offer in the country

Through Provision 1/2025, issued by the Undersecretary of Air Transportation under the Ministry of Economy, the Government granted new permits to the Peruvian airline to operate in our country. The measure is part of the ruling party’s plan to deregulate the air market and expand the supply of flights.

In the recitals of the Provision, the Government stated that the airline “accredited the legal and administrative requirements required by current regulations to carry out the required services.” Both the National Directorate of Air Transport and the General Legal, Technical and Administrative Directorate of the ANAC issued favorable reports within the framework of their powers.

In this way, the undersecretary of air transport, Hernán Adrián Gómez, decided to “Air commercially authorize the Peruvian flag company SKY AIRLINE PERÚ SAC (CUIT 30-71716923-5) to operate regular international air transport services for passengers and cargo.”

The measure was issued “in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement on Air Services signed on June 15, 2007 and approved by Law No. 26,569, the Memorandum of Understanding of May 13, 2024, both between the Republic of Argentina and the Republic of Peru and by Decrees No. 599 of July 8, 2024 and 50 of December 19 of 2019, and its amendments”.
