Pushkov announced the unwillingness of Europe to fight for Ukraine

Europe will not enter into a theoretical armed conflict in Ukraine. This opinion was voiced by Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov on Saturday, January 29.

Thus, he commented on the news that Hungary refused to deploy additional NATO units on its territory.

“Declarations on the political unity of NATO allies are one thing. But Europe is not eager to get involved in a potential military conflict over Ukraine,” the senator wrote on his Telegram channel.

Pushkov also reminded Kiev of the same position on this issue of Bulgaria and Croatia, which stated that “they would not send a single soldier to fight for Ukraine.”

“Despite attacks from Kiev and criticism from the United States, where it is accused of almost betrayal, Germany insists on its refusal to supply weapons to Ukraine,” the senator concluded.

On January 27, Pushkov commented on a proposal that appeared in the State Duma to consider the issue of political recognition of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR). According to him, at the moment there is no question about this, although “there is sympathy for these republics.”

On January 24, Peskov said that the Ukrainian authorities were concentrating a huge amount of forces and means on the border with the self-proclaimed republics of the DPR and LPR, and this indicated that Kiev was preparing for an offensive, and called on NATO to influence the Ukrainian authorities so that they “did not even think about the possibility of a forceful settlement in Ukraine”.

Since 2014, the Kiev authorities have been conducting a military operation against the inhabitants of Donbass, who refused to recognize the results of the coup d’état and the new government in Ukraine. At the same time, Kiev blames Moscow for the current situation. Russia has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the intra-Ukrainian conflict. The issues of its settlement are being discussed in the Minsk and Normandy formats.
