A 53 year old french woman filed a complaint alleging having been defrauded of 830,000 euros by a person who would have posed on social networks as Brad Pitt for a year and a half. The event shocked European public opinion.
According to French media, the scammer received 830,000 euros from a woman named Anne claiming that he had to undergo surgery to cure kidney cancer and that he did not have access to his bank accounts because of the complicated divorce with Angelina Jolie.
The woman, who provided her public testimony in a program on the TF1 channel, He claimed that he had “fallen in love” of the person with whom he was chatting on the internet and who pretended to be the actor Pitt.
At the time of the beginning of this long-distance relationship, the victim was experiencing a difficult emotional moment with her husband, with whom she has a daughter.
The scammer, who would have approached Anne in February 2023 on Instagram, posted doctored photos of the Hollywood star in different everyday situations and even sent her a video generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

After a year and a half, Anne discovers the deception when the media reports that Pitt has started a relationship with Inés de Ramón.
“He sent me photos and, when I searched online, I didn’t see them. That’s why he told me: ‘they are photos he took for me,'” she explained to the journalists of the ‘Sept à Huit’ program.
The woman, who suffers from severe depression, is temporarily staying at a friend’s house, after losing almost all of her assets to the scam, including the 775,000 euros she received after her divorce.
“I wonder why they chose me to hurt me to such an extent. I have never hurt anyone in my life. Those people deserve hell”concluded the plaintiff.
