With the aim of bringing people closer to cultural establishments, a new anniversary is celebrated.
This January 15 is World Selfie Day in Museums. The date was established with the aim of bringing people closer to these establishments and it was decided that it would be celebrated every third Wednesday of the first month of the year. For this reason, museums and art galleries around the world invite visitors to take photos next to their favorite works so that they can share them on their digital platforms.
The content you want to access is exclusive to subscribers.
In this way, we seek to disseminate this elusive cultural aspect of new trends in young people on social networks. That is why establishments invite people to share their experiences under the hashtag #MuseoSelfie or #MuseumSelfieDay. According to Google Trends, this day registers a specific increase in searches.

What is the objective of World Selfie Day in Museums?
Given the growing lack of social interest in cultural activities, the distancing of people from the historical and real and the advance of digital devices as a form of entertainment, museums and art galleries proposed this date to unite both aspects, give a reason for young people to approach these establishments and obtain dissemination through the publication of these images on social networks.
According to Google Trends data, this day has been able to increase engine searches for specific museums, art galleries and world-known works. That is why it is important to celebrate it and value the importance that these establishments have in the construction of a society and the diversity of possibilities in people’s entertainment, hobbies or even professions.
