“The special feature of this packaging is that new cups can be produced as often as necessary,” explains Strobl. The cycle was already closed at Christmas. “This innovative project shows that plastic can be used multiple times and thus contribute to environmental protection,” the builder is convinced.
The builder currently supplies more than 80 schools and kindergartens in the Salzkammergut, in the state of Salzburg and in the Braunau area. There are 30 cows on his organic farm. The family refines organic hay milk into fruit milk, cocoa or drinking yoghurt. 1800 PET cups go to kindergartens and schools every day. Empty cups are collected, shredded, washed and then made into new ones. Strobl speaks of a project “that as many as possible should imitate”.
Since spring 2021, the school milk farmers in Upper Austria have been using this currently most sustainable packaging for their products. “We put a lot of energy into our work every day, make sure that our cows are doing well and try to conserve our valuable resources with sustainable projects. Now we are grateful to have found this sustainable solution together with our partners. Because a top product also needs the most environmentally friendly packaging,” says Johannes Strobl. These partners are PET-MAN, Greiner Packaging and Starlinger viscotec. It is not surprising that this globally unique project has already received three prestigious awards, the Trigos 2021, the Green Packaging Star Award and the World Star Packaging Award 2022.
