A programmer who goes his own way

Although Manfred Baldauf graduated from the commercial academy in Freistadt and during this time focused very much on business, the Freistadt native never let himself be distracted from his great passion – programming. After his civil service with the Red Cross, he devoted himself entirely to his studies in “Mobile Computing” at the University of Applied Sciences in Upper Austria, Campus Hagenberg.

The 24-year-old Master’s student has also set up his own company “Main Thread GmbH” as a programmer. “It has always been my dream and the economic knowledge from the HAK is also beneficial to me,” says Baldauf. And with his commitment, he was also able to serve as a role model for other fellow students for self-employment.

The young technician is currently planning his semester abroad, which he would prefer to spend in Singapore and where he can expand his technical knowledge. “It’s not about saving the world with an app, but rather about making our lives easier with small steps,” says Baldauf.

“Dream job technology”

The “dream job technology” will again take place virtually this year. On Wednesday, March 2, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., AHS pupils in the sixth and seventh grades can immerse themselves in the digital world of technical professions and receive detailed information on training and studies at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz and the universities of applied sciences in Upper Austria in 22 workshops . The OÖN support the initiative of the Kepler University and the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, as well as the regional school board and the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
