The young man – according to a report in the Tiroler Tageszeitung he has an autistic disposition – had been missing from a holiday home since Saturday evening and was finally found severely hypothermic by emergency services in the gorge more than 24 hours later, the police confirmed.
The German who was responsive was flown to the clinic by helicopter. With the help of a drone from the fire brigade, the footprints of the missing person could be located and traced on Sunday, it said. According to the report, the search operation was started on Saturday after the 21-year-old had disappeared from the accommodation a second time around 5 p.m. without notifying his parents. He had previously been found once via a mobile app.
The parents finally alerted the emergency services. 35 men from the Sölden mountain rescue service, the Landeck fire brigade, police search dogs and the “Libelle” helicopter were deployed.
