“The main asset of this Government has been the reduction of the inflation rate, which has generated a perception of stability, and stability is popular. For this reason, the Government has been strengthened,” he reflected.
The former Minister of Economy, Martin Guzmancommented on the strong inflation slowdown that the government achieved Javier Milei. He consumer price index (CPI) ended in December for the third consecutive month below the 3%. In this context, the former official considered that it was generated “a perception of stability” which strengthened the Government, but criticized the measures adopted to reach these numbers, since they generated damage in “certain sectors of production and work” and they did not create a climate of “prosperity”.

Along these lines, he analyzed: “This shows, beyond the way in which it was achieved – via a very large recession for a good part of the year and an increase in the price of Argentina that is generating damage in certain sectors of production and work – , which is essential for society to be more or less ordered that there is respect for budget and resource restrictions and that fiscal policy is more or less ordered.”
Martín Guzmán: “Today we have a situation of stability without prosperity”
Guzmán stated that the stability that currently exists is “without prosperity”but that “for many people it is better than instability, which was the perception that dominated the scene during the year 2023 and generates a lot of anguish.” It should be noted that, the inflation reached 12.8% in November 2023, latest data from the management of Alberto Fernandezand in December reached 25.5% after the devaluation of the 54% of Javier Milei.

“The issue is what economic policies meant for how we live.. When people look to the sides and see nothing, and look back and say they don’t like it either, this puts the Government, in relative terms, in a quite popular place,” he said.
“He was successful in the Government’s objectives, but there was no progress in Argentine society,” he catapulted.
