This is below the average of the past seven days (32,847), but well above the 25,610 cases registered a week ago. The seven-day incidence is currently 2,574. The trend in hospitals has remained the same, with 1,506 patients (plus 58), of which 178 (plus one) are in intensive care units. The latter figure fell by nine in one week. Vienna recorded the most new infections with 6,802, followed by Upper Austria (5,266), Lower Austria (4,407), Styria (3,127) and Tyrol (2,809). Far behind are Carinthia (1,642), Salzburg (1,549), Vorarlberg (1,120) and Burgenland (689). The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Vienna with 3,203.4, followed by Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Salzburg (2,865.1, 2,797.3 and 2,738.8 respectively). This is followed by Upper Austria (2,510.8), Styria (2,273.2), Carinthia (2,254.6), Lower Austria (2,135.3) and Burgenland (1,828).
305,888 active corona cases are 4,667 more than the day before. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have already been 1,855,578 confirmed diseases in Austria. 1,535,587 people have recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic, and 22,732 have recovered within the past 24 hours. Twelve deaths were registered, with a seven-day average of 14.7 per day. A total of 14,103 people in Austria died of or with Covid-19.
A total of 401,477 tests were registered in the past 24 hours, including 308,194 PCR tests, with a positive rate of 8.9 percent. This is above last week’s average (4.9 percent of PCR tests positive).
14,310 vaccinations were carried out on Sunday. According to the data from the e-vaccination card, a total of 6,750,443 people have received at least one vaccination. 6,478,344 and thus 72.5 percent of Austrians have a valid vaccination. The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland at 78.1 percent. In Lower Austria 74.3 percent of the population have a valid vaccination protection, in Styria 72.5 percent. After Vienna (71.5), Tyrol (71.1), Vorarlberg (69.4), Salzburg (69.2) and Carinthia (69.2), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 68.3 percent.
