The bus with the players of the Latvian club RFS got into an accident on Saturday, January 29.
At the time of the accident, the team was returning from the Finnish capital Helsinki from a friendly match against the HJK club. 40 km from Riga there was a collision with a car that left the oncoming lane. As a result, the bus with the athletes fell into a ditch. Players and staff escaped through an escape hatch
Two players and one club employee received first aid on the spot and were later taken to the hospital.
“In the coming days, one of the players will have an operation on his nose. In general, several members of the club received various injuries, but this does not threaten their professional career. Many received minor or more severe bruises and dental injuries, but given the severity of the accident, the team was very lucky. No one died, and especially painful consequences were avoided. The club currently does not have additional information about the car with which the collision occurred, ”the club’s Instagram page said.
The RFS thanked the ambulance staff and people passing by who were picking up bus passengers in their cars.
