A heavily icy road was fatal for a man from Mühlviertel on Tuesday morning: The 64-year-old was driving his tractor in the municipality of Klaffer am Hochficht (Rohrbach district) around 11 a.m. when the accident occurred immediately after the intersection of Schwarzauweg and the industrial park. The tractor skidded, spun, left the road to the right and overturned into a snow-covered field, where it came to rest on the left side of the vehicle. The driver was locked in the cabin.

A driver following behind noticed the accident and raised the alarm. It was a demanding operation for the Klaffer and Ulrichsberg fire departments, which were called to rescue people: the victim was a comrade from their own ranks. The emergency services freed the man, whose legs were trapped, by removing the roof of the vehicle.
