Too salty, full of trans fats and enriched with flavor enhancers and preserving agents: these attributes apply to most snacks that can be bought in the supermarket. The logical consequence for people who pay attention to their health and their figure is: stay away from it! Neither potato chips, nachos, tortillas or chocolate cookies are allowed in the shopping cart.
However, if you prepare your own snacks, you don’t have to go without. Because this means you have control over which ingredients you use. You can also cater to personal preferences or dietary needs, and artificial additives, sugar or trans fats are not an issue anyway.
In addition, you can let your imagination run wild when making your own snacks. For example, nuts, seeds or fresh vegetables can be transformed into original and healthy snacks.
The Leben editorial team tried out three recipes and was surprised at how uncomplicated and quickly the snacks were prepared – and how well received they were by guests.
