Two police officers died as a result of a shooting on the grounds of Bridgewater College in the US state of Virginia. This was reported by the Washington Post on Tuesday, February 1.
According to the publication, the police officers were shot dead on Tuesday afternoon. It is noted that the deceased were close friends.
Earlier in the day, a shooting incident was reported on the grounds of Bridgewater College. Students and staff have been urged to take shelter in secure areas.
The college said state police officers were on the scene. One of the local journalists wrote on Twitter that she saw two dozen patrol cars heading towards the campus.
At the same time, the ABC television channel reported at least one police officer who received a gunshot wound.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin later told reporters that police had arrested a suspect in the shooting.
On the same day, one student was killed and another was injured in a shooting near a school in Richfield, Minnesota. The police are actively investigating the incident and are looking for an unknown person who fled immediately after he opened fire.
