Hungary does not politicize the issues of gas supplies and wants to increase the supply of “blue fuel” from Russia by 1 billion cubic meters. m, adding them to the existing agreement for 4.5 billion cubic meters. This was stated in an exclusive interview with Izvestia by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó.
“As for gas, this is not a political issue for us. No political statements will warm the houses and apartments of the Hungarians. This requires gas. And the reality is that, given the infrastructure circumstances, the only way to get significant volumes of gas is Russia and Gazprom,” the politician stressed. – We want to use the flexibility of the contract not to reduce, but to increase the volume of deliveries. And for this we would like to add an additional 1 billion cubic meters to the current agreement. m per year.
The politician clarified that many participants in the gas market urged him not to enter into a long-term contract with Gazprom, but to stake on the spot market. However, in the end, a long-term agreement turned out to be more profitable – it guarantees supplies “regardless of shocks in the European energy market,” said Peter Szijjarto.
