A new air incident happened this Sunday in the United States: A plane presented a problem in an engine during takeoff at Houston’s main airport and had to evacuate the flight. It happened shortly after the tragedy that took place in Washington where 67 people died.
It was the 1382 flight of United Airlines that was heading to New York City. The Federal Aviation Administration reported in a statement that was arrested while it was still on the track shortly after 8:30 in the morning at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
A problem in an engine during takeoff generated smoke and fire on the right wing and the passengers were evacuated to the ground through slides and stairs.
According to FAA, which will investigate the incidentno injuries were reported and the passengers were transferred in a micro return to the terminal. The takeoff was suspended after the Airbus A319 “received an indication on an engine,” they added.
The KPRC-TV television station obtained a video of a passenger that showed flames and smoke that came out of the wing while accelerating on the track. You can listen to a passenger who says: “Please, please, get us out of here.”
The flight had 104 passengers and five crew, and was going to travel to Laguardia airport in New York, United Airlines reported in a statement.
“The passengers landed on the track through a combination of slides and stairs, and were transferred by bus to the terminal,” said the airline. “We organize a different aircraft to take customers to their destination at 2:00 in the afternoon of the center.”
The concern about the safety of flights in the United States was high after two recent air shocks this year, which were lethal. An American Airlines jet that wore 60 passengers and four crew clasped in the air in Washington, DC, against an army helicopter in which three soldiers were going. There were no survivors. And in Philadelphia, a private jet fell on a busy neighborhood and seven people died.
