Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on February 2 commented on the HBO film about Alexei Navalny (included by Rosfinmonitoring in the register of organizations and individuals involved in extremist activities or terrorism).
“In the American “documentary” clip, which was made by a British citizen and a citizen of Bulgaria, Irzhi Yust Navalny, a correspondent of the Czech newspaper Lidov Novine, calls him a “homeless person” and uses foul language. It would seem that it is surprising that he does this with everyone. There is a nuance. This is the same Jiri Yust who regularly spoke out in defense of Navalny, ”she wrote on Telegram.
The diplomat also drew attention to the fact that Navalny accused journalist Mikhail Shakhnazarov of lying, although “at the same time, as always, he is lying.”
“How ugly everything that is connected with Navalny. Another enchanting example, ”Zakharova emphasized.
Earlier, on January 25, Rosfinmonitoring added Navalny to the register of terrorists and extremists. According to the law, banks freeze the funds of persons included in this list and suspend services.
On January 14, Navalny’s supporters Leonid Volkov and Ivan Zhdanov were also included in this register.
In September 2021, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the creation and management of an extremist community – the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK, recognized as a foreign agent and an extremist organization, its activities are prohibited in Russia). The defendants in the case were Alexei Navalny, Leonid Volkov, Georgy Alburov, Ivan Zhdanov, Lyubov Sobol and others, the department said in a statement.
On August 6, 2021, the FBK and the Navalny Headquarters were included in the list of banned organizations in Russia, the Moscow City Court recognized these organizations as extremist. In addition, the court decided to turn FBK’s property into state ownership.
