District heating: excavation for town hall connection starts in March

Mayor Markus Vogl and the two district heating managing directors Wolfgang Baumgartner and Bernhard Baumgartner signed the corresponding agreement in the Steyr town hall. The office building on the town square is currently heated with oil. From the end of the year, however, the heating is to be supplied with renewable energy. This could save around 200,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide annually.

The city of Steyr is thus opening the door to a large regional environmental project. It is planned that large parts of Steyr will subsequently be connected to the district heating network.

Coming from the Schönauerbrücke, the excavation work on the Ennskai is scheduled to start at the beginning of March and initially last until the summer. At the same time, the line coming from the Ennsleite is being dug in the direction of the bridge. Excavation phase two will follow in autumn.
