They specialized in blowing up cigarette machines using firecrackers and other fireworks. Police caught the gang Thursday morning right after they blew up a vending machine in Freistadt.
The three men and a woman tried to flee in a car. In this, the officers found 90 cigarette packs, a balaclava, a crowbar and several firecrackers. A 21-year-old from Leonding and a 23-year-old from Freistadt admitted to having been present at three other blasts. Each time they had support from other people their own age. One of the blasts was successful.
During a search of the home, officers found drugs. The men and women showed remorse. They will be reported to the Linz public prosecutor’s office, the police said in the evening.
