The investigators also have no traces to a connection, for example to the terrorist organization of Islamic State (IS) or to other participants. According to the police, the number of injured rose from 30 to 36. Among them are two seriously injured, among them one child.

The perpetrator speaks on intention of
Tilmann, among other things, named the statement by police officers that the driver called “Allahu Akbar” (God is great) as indications of an Islamist motivation. In an interrogation, he also admitted that he had deliberately controlled the car into the end of the demonstration train of the ver.di union. The statements indicated a religious motivation, said Tilmann. She did not want to give details of the statements during the interrogation.
Tilmann emphasized that the investigation was still at the beginning. However, she dares to speak of the assumption of an Islamist background. Among other things, chats were evaluated on the driver’s smartphone.
Application for an arrest warrant for attempted murder planned
The Attorney General now wants to apply for an arrest warrant for attempted murder in 36 cases. There is also suspicion of dangerous bodily harm and a dangerous intervention in road traffic. An investigative judge will decide on a pre -trial detention in the afternoon.
When the Afghan was arrested, the police also shot on his car. “However, the perpetrator was not hit and not injured by the shot,” it said. The officials succeeded in pulling the perpetrator out of the car, even though he was still trying to accelerate again. According to the police, the car belonged to the driver.
According to the investigators, the Afghan had recently been legally in Germany. The Vice President of the Police Headquarters, Christian Huber, justified that the first information about his residence status and possible criminal records of the driver had to be corrected afterwards with false communication in the “Chaosphase” after the incident itself.
No indications of mental illness
So far, the 24-year-old has no indications of psychological problems that could have had an impact on the crime, Tilmann said. Therefore, it is not requested to temporarily accept the man in psychiatric accommodation.
24-year-old so far not a criminal record
So far, the 24-year-old has not been convicted after now information from the authorities. There was only once a procedure for job fraud in Bavaria, said Tilmann. He had registered unemployed, then started an activity and did not deregister in time. The procedure was terminated against a money requirement because it was only a very short period of time. This was the only investigation in Bavaria that existed.
Two -year -olds in critical condition
The age of the victims lies between two and 60 years. It is possible that other injuries will report, it said. A two-year-old girl in Haunerschen’s children’s hospital was in a critical condition in the intensive care unit, a spokesman for the clinic of the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) in Munich had previously said.
At the LMU Clinic, a total of 14 injuries were treated at the two locations in Großhadern and Downtown. Some patients were seriously injured, four had to be operated on immediately.
Police are increasingly presence during security conference
