The fire brigade and police were alerted in the early evening. When the emergency services arrived, the stairwell was so thick with smoke that the residents could not get to safety. However, the fire in the basement was quickly extinguished. After the stairwell had been sufficiently ventilated, all residents could be evacuated from the building. Two people were rescued using the ladder.

An expert from the fire prevention agency determined that night the cause was arson: an ignition source was attached to a couch, according to the police on Thursday morning.
No one was injured in the fire, but the damage is considerable: the basement was covered in soot and the water pipes and power distributor were damaged. Parts of the house are currently without electricity and water supply. Investigations into the arsonist are currently being carried out.
