The Russian mission also noted that Ribeiro ignored the ban on broadcasting RT DE in Germany, but “immediately raised her voice to the forced response measures of the Russian side.”
“We read with indignation the commentary of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Teresa Ribeiro, regarding the retaliatory measures taken by the Russian side against Deutsche Welle. There is an obvious selectivity in reading the mandate and a demonstration of extreme unprofessionalism, as well as frank political bias in assessing the situation, ”the message says.
Earlier in the day, the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Teresa Ribeiro, called on Russia to reconsider its measures against the German TV channel Deutsche Welle and ensure that journalists can do their jobs. However, she did not react to a similar decision by Germany to stop broadcasting RT DE.
On February 2, the Licensing and Supervision Commission of Germany, referring to the lack of a permit issued by national regulatory authorities, issued a decision to ban the broadcasting of the RT DE TV channel. On Wednesday, February 2, the RT Telegram channel reported that broadcasting had ceased on the Eutelsat satellite, smart TV, the RT website and app, and the Odyssey platform.
In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that “the verdict of the German media regulator is an unambiguous signal and Moscow is forced to start implementing retaliatory measures against accredited German media.
