The Ministry of Health recorded this in a new version of the contact person regulation. This should have an impact on kindergartens and elementary schools, for example. The regulation has already been sent to the state medical authorities and should soon be applied, according to the APA. Additional proof of the virus variant is not required. Since the beginning of January 2022, an omicron infection can be assumed as long as there is no clear evidence of infection by another variant. The new regulation could avoid many quarantine cases and relieve the health authorities, the Ministry of Health emphasized.
This expands the group of people
For example, people with three so-called “immunological events”, i.e. either three vaccinations or two vaccinations and one recovery, or children between five and eleven years of age with two vaccinations or one vaccination and one recovery were no longer considered Category I contact persons. You also do not have to be in quarantine now if protective measures such as an FFP2 mask (mouth and nose protection is sufficient for children up to the age of 14) have been taken when coming into contact with infected people.
With the new regulation, this group of people will be expanded. This is likely to play a greater role in kindergartens, for example, where many children are unvaccinated and do not wear masks. The same applies to elementary schools if the mask requirement has not been observed consistently or does not exist at all (e.g. when eating in all-day school forms).
