On February the driest winter ended in 28 years and, according to Geosphere Austria, one of the ten driest winter in measuring history, which goes back to 1858: there was a 45 percent less precipitation nationwide than in the long -term average. This also affected the fresh snow situation: below 500 meters above sea level, the wintry freshness amount was 90 percent behind the climate agent.
Showers are predicted in Upper Austria for the coming week, but there should be no comprehensive rain. The hydroclimatologist Klaus Haslinger from the climate sequence research department at Geosphere Austria about the consequences of dryness for the groundwater levels in the country.
