Annoying calluses

Carina Springer from the Losenstein pharmacy explains why people have calluses, especially on their feet: “It is a protective mechanism for heavily stressed areas. The skin thickens, especially on the heel, where the load is high.” Work shoes and slippers can also cause a bulge to form along the foot. The dead tissue itself is insensitive. But if the cornea is very dry and tears, it can be painful.

Treatment with urea cream

“Then you should cream your feet two to three times a day with an ointment that contains urea. This softens the skin and even helps with the removal,” says the pharmacist. However, after two to three weeks of “cure” one should return to a normal, moisturizing foot cream so that the growth of the skin can return to normal.

If the callus is too thick, electric or manual planes help to remove the upper layers. This is not an option for people with diabetes. Their sensitivity to pain is reduced and injuries often no longer heal. For them, professional pedicure is mandatory, for all other adults also a good solution. (ie)
