This is exactly what happened to a 38-year-old mother in Wels on Saturday evening. Her eight-year-old son was seriously injured.
At around 6 p.m., the child was walking with his Syrian mother on the sidewalk of Römerstraße. Suddenly, the eight-year-old ran onto the road for unknown reasons. A 59-year-old driver from Wels was unable to stop in time. The child was hit by the vehicle and thrown against the windshield. The boy then fell onto the road and was badly injured.
The rescue chain was set in motion immediately, and the alarmed rescue services and the emergency doctor arrived a little later. The child received first aid, as did its mother, who was in severe shock. Both were then taken to the hospital in Wels/Grieskirchen.
On the normal station
Good news came from the hospital yesterday. The boy has suffered serious injuries, but is not in danger of life and is being treated in the normal ward, said clinic spokeswoman Renate Maria Gruber at the request of the Upper Austria News.
