Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba considers the words of Czech President Milos Zeman about the inadvisability of sending NATO troops to Ukraine as an attempt to damage Ukrainian-Czech relations.
“Another attempt by President Zeman to damage Ukrainian-Czech relations will end in yet another failure. Looking forward to Ukraine [главу МИД Чехии] Jan Lipavsky. He represents a responsible government that understands the danger for the Czech Republic and Europe as a whole from the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Kuleba tweeted on February 6.
Earlier in the day, the Czech president spoke out in an interview with CNN Prima News against sending NATO troops to Ukraine because the country is not part of the alliance.
On February 3, Zeman expressed the opinion that the situation on the border between Russia and Ukraine should be treated with restraint, since at this stage the conflict has not moved into the plane of direct action. It was noted that the President of the Czech Republic believes in the possibility of resolving the current conflict in a peaceful way.
In addition, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said that a few days ago, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the donation to the Ukrainian armed forces of more than 4,000 152 mm artillery shells, which are used to fire howitzers.
On January 26, the Ceske noviny newspaper reported that the supply of ammunition from the Czech Republic to Kiev would be free. Jakub Faynor, a spokesman for the Czech Defense Ministry, specified that Ukraine would receive 4,006 units of 152-millimeter artillery ammunition in total.
According to him, the Czech Republic intends to strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine, which asked for help in response to the situation with Russian troops on its border.
On January 20, the Minister of Defense of the Republic, Yana Chernokhova, stated that Europe should prepare and provide assistance to Kiev.
Western politicians and media representatives continue to spread numerous speculations about possible Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Russian side has repeatedly denied allegations of an alleged “invasion” into a neighboring country.
