Aigen-Schlägl. The Aigen-Schlägler author and cultural manager Peter Werner wants to set a cultural sign in the region with the art festival “Border Gang”. This should be a wake -up call at the same time and devote itself to big topics. “The world burns. And art? It is silent.” Peter Werner does not want to accept that without stand and therefore realize the “border tour” festival. All art forms have their place, whether painting, theater, music, sculpture, photography, film or dance. “It is about experience, questioning, confrontation and appreciation., Border Great ‘brings art back where it belongs-in the middle of life,” says the creative Wahl-Mühlviertler. He wants to understood the border in two ways: “” “Border Great ‘needs and demands art that shakes up, questioned, provoked and reconciled – artists push their limits.” On the other hand, people should come to the former borderland. “A region that was characterized by two borders for decades, one open, the other fatal. Many people still remember how it feels when a wrong step leads into the unknown.”
Premiere in autumn
In autumn, the festival should celebrate premiere and face its first big topic: “War and Peace”. Peter Werner’s idea: “The border passage not only shows the horror of the war, but also lets the value of peace feel in the next breath. It reminds of how fragile this condition is. A privilege that we often see for granted. Why we have to actively preserve it. And how we should consciously design this peace.”
The border tour is to begin in the Upper Mühlviertel, but act far beyond as a cultural beacon. “We make the Mühlviertel a cultural hotspot with international radiance. Donau-Bohnerwald as a new fixed point for contemporary art and culture,” he says of his vision. “Without the festival, Woodstock would only be a village. Without the border, the Mühlviertel remains an undiscovered stage. Salzburg stands for Festival, Vienna for Mozart, Bayreuth for Wagner. Our region is beautiful but culturally underestimated. Soon we stand for courage and expression in art. The up there on the Bohemian Forest, they stand for something. They dare!” If it is after Peter Werner, the festival should not remain a unique event, but should take place regularly and thus “become the artistic brand and the cultural figurehead for a creative, cosmopolitan region”. In this sense, Peter Werner hopes for many cooperation partners who actually fulfill the extraordinary festival with him. Artists of all genres who want to deal with the topic of “war and peace” are invited to report, as well as owners of unusual locations that are willing to open their rooms for art. And sponsors, supporters and sponsors who want to promote a brave and unique cultural project. “There is already great interest in the border passage ‘, and not only in the region. The festival has the potential to find attention far beyond the borders of the Mühlviertel,” Peter Werner is convinced.
