The musicians and their fan attachment will not quickly forget this day. This parade in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators from all over the world was one of the highlights for the Musikverein from Kopfing. “Playing in front of so many people and being cheered by them is something very special,” says a visibly relieved chapel master Christian Grüneis and adds: “It was exhausting to march and play three kilometers through the city, that was not without, but now there was joy and enthusiasm.”

His music colleagues were also impressed: “Incredible, this mood, a great experience for all of us,” says Josef Grünberger. The mood along the route led through the city center of Dublin was gigantic – more than half a million people lined the streets and cheered and applauded the twelve music groups. Including the Kopfing music band, which was the first Austrian music band to this parade – one of the largest worldwide. Not only Mayor Bernhard Schasching was overwhelmed, and said: “Sensational what happened here – and heading is right in the middle of it. For our community, this is a huge honor!” His counterpart from Dublin, Mayor “Lord Mayor” Emma Blain said in the OÖN conversation: “I met the musicians yesterday and was thrilled-great that this Marching band plays here in Dublin.”

For two hours, the 50 musicians marched through the streets of Dublin – led by Mayor Schasching – and then received a special award. In the evening, Kapellmeister Christian Grünis said: “I just got a message from the organizer: I am todelted to let you know that our adjudicaotors have chosen music club heading to win the ‘spirit of the parade award’. The headers have convincingly carried the Innviertel spirit and the Innviertel enthusiasm for Ireland!
