While the industry had to accept losses last year, Intersport cannot currently complain. In the first half of the current financial year (from October to September), sales of 4.7 percent were achieved throughout Austria. The good ski season contributed to the success, a growth driver is the ski rental.
According to managing director Franz Koll, Intersport was also able to increase the sales of ski boots or helmets in the double -digit area. “The locations in the tourism regions recorded a demand at a record level, especially during the Christmas and semester break,” says Koll.

Ice skating shoes were also in great demand this winter. The increase in sales is 75 percent due to a frequency increase and only a quarter to price increases. In contrast, cross-country equipment, bobs and sledges were not in demand: there was a double-digit minus here. The reason for this is the low amounts of snow in the valleys.
