As a precaution, the Turkish government agencies issued a four-day demonstration and assembly ban in the Istanbul region. According to reports, several social networks and short message services were only used to a limited extent in Turkey on Wednesday.

In the early Wednesday morning, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had the popular Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem Imamoglu and another 99 people from his environment. Despite the ban on demonstration and high police presence, hundreds of people in several places in Istanbul gathered during the day. Around 100 people chanted in front of the police station to which Imamoglu was brought into: “The day will come when the AKP (Erdogan’s party, note) will be held accountable.”

The Imamoglus party, the Social Democratic CHP, called for a major rally for 6.30 p.m. (CET).
