From Washington they argued the decision pointing out that the activities of these companies are “contrary to international policy and the national security of the United States.” The inclusion in this list imposes on US companies obtaining a previous government agreement to be able to export semiconductors to the signatures indicated.

Under this framework, the Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnickhe said in a statement: “We will not allow adversaries to exploit US technology to strengthen their own armies and threaten US lives.”
US limits access to semiconductors
The objective of the measure has as its main point to limit access to American semiconductors by Chinese companies suspected of being linked to the Army or the Beijing Intelligence Services.
Among the new affected companies, the vast majority are Chinese, with subsidiaries in Taiwan, South Africa or the United Arab Emirates. Two companies, in China and Iran, are in the sights for having tried to obtain US pieces to help in the development of Iranian defense drones programs.
Until now, Washington imposed restrictions on more than 150 Chinese companies, both for semiconductors and for the necessary equipment for its production. In September, Beijing imposed restrictions against the United States, on materials and components necessary to make chips.
