The Union Gurten was twelve points after the autumn round of the regional league center behind first place in the table. After four rounds played in spring, thanks to four wins in a row, the Gurtner are now only three points behind leaders Hertha Wels. Accordingly, self -confidence in the team of coach Peter Madritsch is according to the title. “I am convinced that the master under Wels, Wallern, the Wolfsberger AC, Oedt and us will be identified,” says Gurten’s captain Thomas Reiter. He doesn’t see his team as a favorite, but one is so confident to say that the title gain is not unrealistic undertaking. “In the past few years we have proven that we are among the most constant teams in the league and can survive against everyone,” says Reiter.

For Gurten-Routinier Sebastian Zirnitzer, winning the championship title would be a crowning career qualification. The 33-year-old, who has been playing for belts since 2016, will be giving up his soccer shoes after the season. He would like to cede as a master. “Of course that would be an absolute madness. I couldn’t imagine a nicer farewell,” says Zirnitzer.
