The first day of the 17th edition of the Rieder Sportmesse is all about the students. Thousands of young people will frolic on an area of 11,000 square meters and try out the huge range of sports. Entry is free for all visitors on Friday.
A total of 55 different sports stations can be tried out in the exhibition halls. There is also a colorful program. Numerous prominent athletes come to the sports fair: On Friday morning, Tina Pesendorfer, the current number one in a wheelchair tennis, is on site at the UTC Fischer Ried stand. Also on Friday, Bettina Plank, the karate bronze medalist of the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, ski jumper Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and the former world-class tennis player Andreas Haider-Maurer come to the Rieder Sportmesse.
More than 700 runners at the start
The children’s runs (Saturday), the Löffler-Messerauf (four kilometers or ten kilometers) and the Sparkassen team developed into a fixed point in the Innviertel running calendar. “We expect a little more than 700 starters,” says Ried’s trade fair director Helmut Slezak. As a former football player and manager, sport is particularly important to him. “On Friday, thousands of children come to get to know the many sports. In my view, we make a very positive contribution to health and society as a Mass Ried,” says Slezak. The sports fair is open on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a sufficient number of free parking spaces at the exhibition center.
