On Wednesday, an email from the (external) press officer of the municipality of Ried and the Energie Ried landed in the e-mail mailbox of the regional media at 2:15 p.m. Subject: “Ried starts underground project”.
In the “press release” it can be read that those responsible for the city of Ried would set a “traffic -technical milestone”. Ried is the first to receive a far-reaching subway network. The first section leads from the Riedberg district to the main square that you are in the city center within a minute. The groundbreaking is given on April 1st. The neighboring municipalities would participate in the costs with 90 percent. Then Mayor Bernhard Zwielehner is quoted in the broadcast: “We not only want to bring traffic underground, but also renovate the budget.” It is obvious that this is a more or less successful April joke. There were occasional comments like “Seriously?” or “with what kind of money?”.
