Wels cleans up again in time for the “Blooming Austria” trade fair. The construction of the summer decoration started today. The giant flowers in troughs that were set up in the pedestrian zone are new. The Fuzo and Pfarrgasse Süd are spanned at lofty heights with a total of 180 balloons and hearts. They replace the colorful flower arrangements from 2024.
Mayor Andreas Rabl (FP) recalled the beginnings of the summer decoration in the Corona year 2020 and the excitement in 2021, as flower balls that were supposed to be similar to the virus, even made it into ZIB 2. Today you can smile about headlines from back then like “Spring decorations”. “With the summer decoration, it is important to us that we show new elements every year,” emphasizes city marketing boss Peter Jungreithmair. Working is carried out with the EWW investment technology and blueer illumination. The motifs come from the 3-D printer, the material is made of recycled sea sculpture.
The city gardeners were particularly diligent this year, they planted around 75,000 spring flowers at the start of the warm season, which contribute significantly to a beautiful cityscape.
New and more attractive parks
Wels also invests around 1.5 million euros in urban parks this year. After the renovation of the eastern part of the castle garden, the renovation of the paths is currently being worked on.
