The Federation Council questioned Poland’s membership in the OSCE after the announcement of the supply of weapons to Kiev

Senator from Crimea, member of the Russian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Olga Kovitidi on February 8 commented on Warsaw’s statement on the supply of weapons to Kiev and the dispatch of military personnel there.

“All this provides grounds for discussing the issue not only of the inadmissibility of Poland’s chairmanship in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, but also the possibility of its membership in the OSCE,” Kovitidi said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

She added that Poland’s actions grossly contradict the Helsinki Final Act, which is the founding document of the OSCE.

The Prime Minister of the Republic, Mateusz Morawiecki, announced on February 4 the planned supply of weapons from Poland to Ukraine.

On February 2, the Polish authorities adopted a resolution on assistance to Ukraine, providing for the supply of Piorun man-portable air defense systems and ammunition.

Former Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski criticized Germany for refusing to supply weapons to Ukraine. He demanded that Berlin take the security of the country seriously. Sikorsky stressed that in the aggravated situation in Ukraine, the British, Americans and countries directly bordering Russia supplied weapons to Kiev.

On February 1, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine, Britain and Poland would form a new alliance. The politician stressed that diplomatic support for Ukraine has been at a high level since 2014. He added that the country “appreciates the support of everyone, but counts only on itself.”

On the same day, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced that the announcement of the creation of the union was postponed indefinitely. He stressed that Warsaw, Kiev and London not only have a “realistic understanding of threats to European security and a strategy to counter the challenges from the Russian Federation”, but also great potential for trilateral cooperation in the areas of trade, investment and energy.

Western politicians and media representatives continue to spread numerous speculations about possible Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Russian side has repeatedly denied such statements.
