The accident occurred in the early in the municipality of Putra Heights at a pipeline of the state -owned group of Petrona, as the responsible place of site Smart Selangor Operation Center (SSOC) announced. Several people are enclosed in surrounding houses. Savings are in use to free them.
According to the Malaysian news agency Bernama, 49 houses are said to be affected. At least five people were taken to a hospital with various injuries. Videos show a huge fire column, charred trees and destroyed cars.
The newspaper “The Star” spoke of a “huge inferno”. Several people in the accident area had suffered burns. Numerous those affected were accommodated in a nearby mosque. What the explosion triggered was initially unclear.
