The activities of US troops continue to negatively affect the situation in Syria. In areas beyond the Euphrates, which are under the control of pro-American authorities, 18 people have been killed in terrorist attacks over the past three days. This was announced on Tuesday, February 8, by Rear Admiral Oleg Zhuravlev, Deputy Head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in the SAR (TsPVS), at a briefing.
“The activities of the US armed forces illegally present on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic continue to have a negative impact on the situation in the country. In the areas of Trans-Euphrates controlled by the pro-American authorities, the security situation remains critical,” he said.
According to him, over the past three days alone, 10 terrorist acts and sabotage have been committed in the region, as a result of which 18 people were killed and 25 people were injured.
The rear admiral also added that according to reports, the militants are planning to carry out sabotage against government employees and facilities in the provinces of Homs, Damascus, Deraa and Es-Suwayda.
As Zhuravlev stressed, the United States and Great Britain continue to grant amnesty to members of terrorist groups. He pointed out that such actions provoke an increase in the terrorist threat.
“Hundreds of followers of radical movements have been released from places of detention and taken into the ranks of US-controlled armed groups. Some of them, according to available data, were transferred to the territory of the Al-Tanf zone, ”the deputy head of the TsPVS specified.
Earlier, on February 6, one Syrian military was wounded as a result of shelling by militants of the Islamic group Jabhat al-Nusra (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) in the province of Idlib. A day earlier, on February 5, militants carried out a sniper attack in the province of Aleppo, as a result of which one Syrian soldier was also injured.
On January 6, the deputy head of the Russian TsPVS spoke about the risk of provocations aimed at exacerbating interethnic conflicts in the Syrian Trans-Euphrates by radical groups.
