The United States encouraged the efforts of France to resolve the situation around Ukraine

The United States is encouraged by the efforts of French President Emmanuel Macron to resolve the situation around Ukraine. This was announced on Tuesday, February 8, at a briefing by White House press secretary Jen Psaki, commenting on the talks between the French leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Answering journalists’ questions, Psaki noted that Washington is “inspired by any diplomatic efforts” on Ukraine.

In addition, according to her, US President Joe Biden will soon again have a conversation with Macron on the Ukrainian issue.

“We maintain contacts with our French partners at various levels. In fact, President Biden and President Macron have spoken twice in the past week, and I expect their new contacts to take place soon,” the spokeswoman said. The briefing was broadcast on the White House page in Twitter.

The talks between Vladimir Putin and his Emmanuel Macron began on the evening of February 7 and lasted more than five hours. The politicians began the conversation in the representative office of the first building of the Kremlin, and continued the conversation over a working lunch. The meeting ended around midnight, after which the presidents held a final press conference.

Putin, as part of a conversation with reporters, stressed that statements about the aggression of the Russian Federation “at least do not correspond to sound logic.” He also pointed out that the further expansion of NATO to the borders of the Russian Federation poses a threat, and in the event of a military conflict between Russia and the alliance, there will be no winners. In addition, the Russian leader called on Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements, noting that there is no alternative to these agreements.
