Syrian air defense repelled an attack in the sky over Damascus

Syrian air defense reflects an air attack on Damascus. On Wednesday, February 9, the SANA agency reports.

“Our air defenses are working on hostile targets in the skies over Damascus,” the report says.

Witnesses on social media publish videos showing the sounds of explosions in the sky above the Syrian capital.

According to the Israeli edition of the Jerusalem Post, alarm sirens warning of a possible rocket attack went off in the north of the country in the city of Umm al-Fahm.

According to the publication, this is the Syrian response to the alleged Israeli air strike on Damascus. In the Israeli army confirmedthat the siren worked on an anti-aircraft missile fired from Syria. The device exploded in the air.

Earlier, on December 28, Syrian air defenses repelled an Israeli attack on the commercial port of Latakia. An Israeli attack hit the port’s container yard, causing extensive property damage and a fire. At the same time, the press service of the Israel Defense Forces refused to comment on reports of Israeli missile strikes in the area of the Syrian seaport.

On December 22, the use of civilian aircraft by Israel to cover up aggression in Syria was called a violation of international rules. This is stated in a joint statement by Russia, Iran and Turkey following the results of the 17th international meeting on Syria in the Astana format. In particular, the parties called on Israel to stop the ongoing military attacks in Syria.
