“Women are really at high risk as a risk group during pregnancy, but they also endanger their children. In terms of premature birth, we have three to four cases of SARS-Cov-2 infected and even more so pregnant women who are ill such a high premature birth rate,” reported Maier. Most pregnant women in Vienna who suffer from corona come to the Ottakring clinic, the ORF reported. 250 women with Covid-19 have already been treated here, 15 of them had to go to the intensive care unit, and one woman died after her caesarean section. All those affected were unvaccinated.
Maier understands that pregnant women are exempt from compulsory vaccination, but it is a fatal message. Like the doctors of the National Vaccination Committee (NIG), the specialist expressly recommends the corona vaccination for expectant mothers. A booster vaccination is also possible. After birth, the baby continues to benefit from the antibodies and is also protected for some time.
