In March, a total of 40,155 people were registered unemployed in Upper Austria, the labor market service (AMS) reported a strong increase in young adults between the ages of 19 and 24.

The younger ones are also affected: “Since Corona, it has been more difficult for young people to gain a foothold on the labor market,” says Andreas Stangl, President of the Upper Austria Chamber of Labor. The recession still worsened the situation. That is a social problem: “If young people are unemployed, they come up with stupid ideas,” says Stangl. The Chamber of Labor therefore launched a training offensive in 2022. The preliminary balance sheet was presented on Monday.

The self -projects include an offer for students from polytechnic schools: You can have professional application photos taken, and you will also be trained in a workshop about the right behavior in professional life and dealing with stressful situations. By the end of 2024, around 3,500 students in Upper Austria were reached, the project is to be continued, says Andrea Heimberger, director of AK Oberösterreich.
