She is 18 years old, belongs to Generation Z and is committed. Marlene Angerer from Leonding is a school spokeswoman at the Wilhering Abbey High School and not only wants to have a say, she also wants to deal with. She has recently been active on the board of the “Forum Humanism Wilhering”.
OÖN: Why are you involved in the Humanism forum?
Marlene Angerer: The forum offers the opportunity to get people with different skills on a stage and to talk to them into a dialogue. Various opinions are made visible here. You get new ideas and inspiration when listening alone. This is enriching for me, and I think it’s nice that I can help shape it. The future has to tackle all of us.
Young people in their generation are happy to say that they are not interested in anything. Are you atypical?
The negative and pessimism supposedly dominate. There are very well young people who try to move and bring on something. You just have to find them.
Where does your efforts come from?
I think it has a lot to do with my growing up. Change, for example, comes exclusively from home. I have always been looking for role models who speak to me and of whom I have found wisdom and attitudes for myself. But I also think that the school has contributed a lot to find a common denominator and a compromise in dialogue with others. This is not as good on the Internet as it is real, so analogous. This is a learning process.
You will be on stage again this week. They show little nervousness. Is the stage your profession?
I would say that I feel comfortable on stage. From an early age, I have experience with the piano or dancing on lecture evenings. But of course I am always a bit nervous before. Today I am grateful when I get in front of the curtain because I find it nice to inspire other people.
So are you also a school spokeswoman?
Among other things. I’m not afraid to talk about people. I want to give something to others and make it positively. I like to be a mouthpiece for the students.
