The project

The Wels exhibition center is modernized – on a large scale: For the “Volksgarten new” project, the exhibition halls 1 to 13 are demolished. The area comprises more than 40,000 square meters that are used to expand the existing Volksgarten. On the Traunufer, a park with sports and playgrounds, dog-free zone and sea pond are created on a total of ten hectares.

The special

The area where the old exhibition halls, including their access routes and parking spaces are still located, is sealed. This means that the 40,000 square meter concrete becomes a green area. “This is as much as there is nowhere in the rest of Austria,” says the city of Wels. This makes it the largest deformation project throughout Germany.

The location

The “Volksgarten new” extends from the existing Volksgarten, the Volksfest area and the town hall to the banks of the Traun. In the east, the park borders on the Pollheimer and Traunuferstraße to the traungass and in the west on the Welldorado roundabout.
