The Steinbach Black Wings would be happy to crown themselves live in the upcoming title decision of the ICE Hockey League-Salzburg today (7.30 p.m., Puls 24 and ORF Sport+) in view of a 3-0 lead against the KAC for the fourth time in a row. But the season has been over for the Linz for ten days. The hero stories of 14 gripping play-off matches with seven extensions en suite and a semi-lost semi-final series against Klagenfurt remain. Success coach Philipp Lukas (45) looks back and ahead in an interview in the TV studio of Upper Austrian News.
OÖN: You and her team have thousands of fans and also people who had little to do with ice hockey. What about your inner life?
Philipp Lukas: I would say the disappointment slowly flattened. You can’t be dissatisfied. We were so close to the final. This season has left traces with us coaches, there is a certain exhaustion. It was a lot of what we subjected to the whole to get the maximum out of this group and drive them to do the necessary extra step in order to be able to achieve the special. This team was excellent in what it has done in the past one and a half months – in terms of cohesion and, above all, resistance. I am very proud, but it is also a lot of emptiness in me because the big task ends so abruptly.
